PARTNER WITH US

Please join our Foundation and our partners to help our children have a better future.  The following is a summary of our partnering efforts to date.

The Evergreen Heritage Center Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) public charity that was founded in 2008, is dedicated to utilizing indoor/outdoor learning to provide young people, particularly underpriviledged children, with the hands-on knowledge and tools by which to break the cycle of poverty. To begin pursuing its educational mission, the Evergreen Heritage Center Foundation partnered with Frostburg State University (FSU), Allegany College of Maryland, and Allegany County Public Schools under a grant funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission, FSU, and the FSU Foundation to develop a Feasibility Study/business plan in support of their shared missions in education.

Since the successful completion of the Study, the Evergreen Heritage Center Foundation has added partnerships with the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, the Cumberland Salvation Army, the Allegany County Human Resources Development Commission (HRDC), and the Cumberland YMCA to build upon the results of the Study to collaborate to leverage the Evergreen Heritage Center, as well as its members’ expertise, to offer young people the opportunity to gain knowledge of how to sustain themselves and the environment.  As part of that work, the Foundation began supporting FSU student projects in 2008, started hosting environmental activities for children in 2009, and currently provides environmental learning for over 1500 children per year from Allegany County Public Schools, the YMCA, Project Head Start, and the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.  Partners and supporters of these educational programs include:
